Brijesh Patel not to resign despite BCCI’s clean up drive

Brijesh Patel’s issue has been in the news lately with the BCCI starting a clean-up drive against conflict of interest in the cricket board. Patel refuted the allegations by saying "BCCI, KSCA and RCB have a stadium agreement. We are not negotiating, so where is the conflict?,” reported TOI. Patel also confirmed that he has spoken to BCCI chief Shashank Manohar about the issue.

It must also be noted that Patel’s claims come a day after former cricketer Narendra Hirwani quit as senior selector in Madhya Pradesh citing his son’s cricket career. With Shashank Manohar’s second tenure as BCCI Chief regarded as “Operation Clean Up”, multiple cricket administrators have faced the axe on the basis of conflict of interest. Former Indian bowler Roger Binny was removed from the senior national selection panel and national coach Ravi Shastri was ousted from the IPL governing council.

The issue, however, is not seen in black and white by all quarters, as implied when an unnamed senior BCCI official was quoted as saying, "Brijesh feels that since KSCA secretary's post is an honorary one where he is not getting any money, it should not clash with his role in RCB," by TOI.
