Sundar Raman, COO of the IPL from 2008, has resigned from his post on Monday. The ex- media planner, whose continued presence in the organization despite being under investigation for his alleged role in the 2013 IPL fixing scandal, had drawn a lot of flak over the months.

Raman became the right hand man of former BCCI president N Srinivasan after the departure of Lalit Modi, his erstwhile mentor. But, Raman's place in the BCCI came under a lot of speculation following the 2013 IPL spot fixing scandal where allegations were brought against the 42-year-old, along with N Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan, Vindu Dara Singh and former Rajasthan Royals' co-owner Raj Kundra.

Last year, after the Supreme Court made the Mudgal committee report public, it came to knowledge that Sundar Raman was in touch with a bookmaker during the IPL. Despite public hue and cry, Raman had maintained his post within the BCCI.

But yesterday, ahead of his scheduled appearance in front of the Lodha committee on November 15, Raman met BCCI president Shashank Manohar in Nagpur and handed over his resignation, according to the PTI.

"Yes, Sundar Raman has resigned. I can confirm that," a BCCI administrative was quoted as saying by PTI.

According to reports by Times of India, Shashank Manohar, who is believed be on a mission to 'clean-up' BCCI and bring more transparency to its operation, urged Sundar Raman to resign on his own accord or face the prospect of being told to do so in the upcoming AGM meeting on November 9.
