Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who is entangled in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) corruption case, has filed a civil defamation case in the Delhi High Court against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and five other Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders for false statements against him and his family members.

"Arun Jaitley will help them now understand travesty of the law. If AAP carries on with what they are doing, they will have to face charges," BJP leader Nalin Kohli said, reported ibnlive.

AAP leaders had accused Arun Jaitley of irregularities and financial bunglings in the DDCA, of which he was president for about 13 years till 2013. They alleged that DDCA have been involved in criminal offences which are "unethical and contrary to the principles of a charitable company, much less of a sporting body".

Former India captain Bishan Singh Bedi supported AAP’s claims saying, "We are all against corruption. There cannot be any fire without smoke. Today, we got the visual proof for the corruption in DDCA. This controversy is in the domain of Delhi CM so what is wrong in AAP raising the matter, “reported ibnlive.

However, the former DDCA president received the support from current cricketers with Virendra Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Ishant Sharma, and Indian Test captain Virat Kohli rallying behind him.

Jaitley also rubbished the allegations of AAP towards his family members saying, "I have no family member who has even one paise interest in any form of business. Why should my family be part of a sports management business?” reported ibnlive.

The Delhi government has asked for Jaitley's resignation or removal from the Union Cabinet in order to enable an independent probe into the allegations brought against him
